About the Friday hikes:
- All hikes are open to the public and leave from the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center unless otherwise indicated.
- Bring plenty of water and a snack or lunch for longer hikes.
- Hiking boots or comfortable footwear.
- No pets. No smoking.
- Children under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
- Bad weather may change or cancel the hike.
- Cell phones for emergency only.
- Higher elevation demands good physical condition! We try to accommodate all levels of hikers.

|Dec 21||Douglas Springs to Garwood Dam loop via new Carillo trail.||Meet at Douglas Springs trailhead at end of Speedway at 8:30 am.||7 mile medium difficulty hike from Douglas Springs to new Carillo trail, SW to steel tank, continuing Carillo to Garwood Dam; return via Garwood trail to Douglas Springs trail, .2 miles from parking lot. Elevation gain of 1120'.|
|Jan 4||Pontatoc Ridge trail||Meet at trailhead at the north end of Alvernon at 8:30 am||A medium hike of 5 miles with an elevation gain of 1200 ft. Allow 3 to 3.5 hrs.|
|Jan 11||Seven Falls||Meet at Sabino Canyon Visitor Center at 8:30 am||Medium difficulty with an elevation gain of 750 feet. Allow 4 to 4.5 hours. Some rock hopping if water is high.|
|Jan 18||Pima Canyon trail to the Dam||Meet at the trailhead at the East end of Magee Road at 8:30 am||This is a medium difficulty hike of 6 miles with an elevation gain of 700 ft. Allow 3 to 3.5 hours.|
|Jan 25||Romero Pools Catalina State Park||Meet at 8:15 at the east side of the Home Depot Parking Lot 10855 N Oracle Rd, (just south of the park entrance) to caravan into the Park. Or meet at the trailhead at the east end of the main paved road into the park at 8:30 am. Entrance Fee $7 for 1-4 people per car required.||Strenuous hike approx 6 miles round trip to pools. Elevation gain of approx 1,000 feet above the state park. Allow 3.5 to 4 hours.|
|Feb 1||Esperero trail to the Ridge||Meet at Sabino Canyon Visitor Center at 8:30 am.||This is a 7 mile difficult hike with an elevation gain of 1200 ft. Allow 4 to 4.5 hrs.|
|Feb 8||Blacketts Ridge||Meet at Sabino Canyon Visitor Center at 8:30 am.||Phoneline trail to Blacketts Ridge trail. A 6.2 difficult hike with an elevation gain of 1700 feet. Beautiful views. Allow 3.5 to 4 hours.|
|Feb 15||Dove Mt –Wild Mustang to Wild Burrow Canyon||To carpool from the East Side meet at Sunrise and Swan, NE side in front of Ace Hardware by 7:30 am. To carpool from the North West area meet at the Basha’s at Cortaro Farms Rd and Thornydale SE corner by 7:30 am. To drive to the trailhead drive West on Ina to Thornydale and turn North, then follow Thornydale to Tangerine and turn West. Follow Tangerine to Dove Mountain where you turn North. It’s another 5 miles on that road to the gatehouse. We plan on starting the hike no later than 8:30 am.||Approx 8 miles and 1200 ft. elevation change.|
|Feb 22||Wasson Peak - King Canyon Trail||The trailhead and parking is directly across from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum on Kinney Road. To carpool from the East Side meet at Sunrise and Swan, NE side in front of Ace Hardware by 7:30 am. Hike starts at 8:30 am.||This is a popular trail for wildflower viewing. 7 miles roundtrip. Wasson Peak elevation is 4,687 feet.|
|Mar 1||Sutherland Trail Catalina State Park||Meet at 8 am on east side of Home Depot parking lot, 10855 N North Oracle to carpool. Or meet at the trailhead at the east end of the main paved road into the park. Entrance Fee $7 for 1-4 people per car required.||Moderate hike approx. 5 miles round trip to waterfall. Elevation gain of approx. 750 feet above the state park. Good wildflowers depending on temperatures and rainfall. Allow 3.5 hours.|
|Mar 8||Milagrosa Loop||Meet at Macdonalds at Catalina Hyw. and Tanque Verde at 8 am to caravan to the trailhead.||This is a loop, 6.6 mile hike with an elevation gain of 1000 Ft. Allow 4 to 5 hrs.|
|Mar 15||Ventana Canyon trail to Maiden Pools||Meet at Ventana trailhead at Ventana resort on Kolb Road at 8 am.||This is an approx. 5 mile, medium difficulty hike, with an elv. gain of 1000 ft. Allow 3.5 to 4 hours.|
|Mar 22||Douglas Spring trail to Bridal Wreath Falls||Meet at Douglas Springs trailhead at the East end of Speedway at 8 am||A 6 mile hike with an elevation gain of about 1000 ft. Medium difficulty. An extra mile will be added to visit Ernies falls for those who would like an extra adventure. With luck there will be some water.|
|Mar 29||Hutches Pool||This hike will leave on the 9 am tram from the Sabino Canyon visitor’s center. $10 tickets for tram.||This medium difficulty hike has an elevation gain of 800 ft. Allow 6 hrs and bring a lunch. This hike is depends on operation of the tram. If the tram is not operating, we will substitute another hike in Sabino.|
|Apr 5||Bug Springs||Meet at the MacDonalds at Tanque Verde &. Catalina Hwy at 8 am and caravan to the trail head. Hike will start no later than 8:45 am.||4.5 mile hike. 600’ elevation gain. This is a two car shuttle beginning at General Hitchcock, mp 12 Mt Lemmon Hwy ending at the lower trail head near Prison Camp. We will organize car shuttle before we head up the mountain. Extreme ½ mile uphill climb in the beginning then trail levels out into a down hill back to the lower trailhead where we will shuttle back to upper trailhead.|
|Apr 12||Guthrie Peak from General Hitchcock trailhead||Meet at the MacDonalds at Tanque Verde &. Catalina Hwy at 8 am and caravan to the trail head. Hike will start no later than 8:45 am||5.6 mile hike starts at 6000’ elevation and has an overall gain of 1300’. Trail is moderately difficult with a good climb 20 minutes into it and a rock face scramble 10 minutes before reaching the peak. Good physical condition required.|
|Apr 19||Sycamore Reservoir||Meet at the MacDonalds at Tanque Verde & Catalina Hwy at 8 and caravan to the trail head. Hike will start no later than 8:30 am||The trail starts at the abandoned Federal Prison Camp site 7.2 miles up the Mt Lemmon Hwy. Parking is to the left and right just inside the entrance. This hike will head toward Sycamore Reservoir. Length will be at the discretion of the Leader.|
