Come learn about the reptiles and amphibians that inhabit Sabino Canyon! A variety of naturalists will lead lizard walks on the first Saturday of the month, from May through October. How do you “walk a lizard,” you might ask? Please join us to find out. No reservations required.
Meet in the plaza outside the Visitor Center by 8:00 a.m. with your water bottles, close focus binoculars, trail mix to keep your electrolytes in check (lizards like it hot), etc. If you don’t have close focus binoculars, we will loan you a pair. Open-toed shoes or sandals are not recommended. The walks take about 2-1/2 hours, although you are free to leave at any time.
Sabino Canyon has 17 species of lizards, and we may also find snakes, frogs, and turtles.
