This may be old news to you good people, but here are a couple of things worth looking for at Sabino right now. Cherie and I noticed them on Thursday.
First, the bad news. There are small bullfrogs in Lower Sabino, in the pool directly south of the road, west of the lower bridge. (This is in a secondary or overflow channel of Sabino Creek.) I believe the Hengesbaughs may have mentioned this to me sometime in the recent past. Has anyone seen bullfrogs farther upstream this year?
Next, the good news. There is an unusual abundance of the interesting wildflower called broomrape in Upper Sabino. Look for it as you start down Dead Man’s Hill, at the foot of the slope on the left side of the road. There is a larger concentration beginning near the first shuttle stop, also at the foot of the slope on the left side of the road.
